Run, Fat Boy, Run (Movie Review) 27Sep08 | 0

Poster for RFBRWhat can I say about this movie that hasn’t already been said by others on Netflix and other user review sites? Probably not a whole lot to be honest.

Simon Pegg (Hot Fuzz & Shaun of the Dead) stars in this along with Thandie Newton (Crash, Beloved, etc.) as a boneheaded but lovable cretin, Dennis, who literally runs from his pregnant fiancĂ© the day of their marriage. There are tons of laughs in this romantic comedy that pits Pegg vs. Hank Azaria, who plays the well to do American who is the adversary to Dennis in his 5 year attempt at salvaging his relationship with his ex-fiancĂ© Libby. The story goes by pretty fast and can kind of get confusing at times since it feels like it’s missing scenes, but overall it David Schwimmer (yes, the dork of Friends fame) did a pretty good job of directing this.

McCain wants no parts in actual debating 25Sep08 | 0

McCain asking Obama for a quick timeout? So I’m sure all of those of you who actually care to follow the whole election race know that John McCain wants to cancel the Presidential debate scheduled for Friday, citing concerns over the current state of the economy and wanting to wait to see what Congress does or whatever. If you don’t see this move as clear way to completely avoid a better equipped opponent perhaps you don’t need to be following anything until you can make an actual informed decision with your vote.

Most people have already seen McCain stumble and succumb to complete senility constantly. Palin can’t speak to reporters anymore without consent because the only thing she’s qualified for doing is clubbing baby seals and walking across the “street” to hang out with her Russian neighbors. Other than constantly attacking or trying to mock Obama for inexperience, McCain is no Ronald Reagan and isn’t quick witted enough to handle Obama in a debate. He knows this and all of his staff knows this.

Here’s hoping the debate happens, I don’t see Obama actually letting McCain pull this obvious and horribly played dodge attempt.

T.I. - Paper Trail Review 25Sep08 | 0

This is T.I.’s much anticipated and waited for album after T.I. v T.I.P. He’s put on several tracks such as Whatever You Like, What Up, What Haapnin’, and Swagga Like Us (best track on the album, might as well get that out of the way). Here’s my review as best as I could put it together. I’ll tell you now since I like being, or at least trying to be honest. I haven’t really liked a T.I. album straight through since Trap Muzik, and even that I didn’t listen all the way through. So let’s get into this shall we? Cover for Paper Trail

The album starts out with a sub-par intro track called 56 Barz and let’s just say it leaves a lot to be desired. He got back with DJ Toomp on this track and he apparently did something weird with the production where T.I. sounds like he could be someone’s 11 year old brother trying to kick his illest rhymes. Not good by any means, but is immediately saved by I’m Illy and the next two songs Ready for Whatever & On Top of the World, the latter featuring Ludacris and it turns out pretty well. That is until you hit the weird techno sampled Live Your Life with Rihanna — I don’t know what he was thinking on this, either it was “Let’s get Rihanna on a track” or “Let’s do something completely retarded real quick and get me in some of those clubs where people dress like peacocks!” but the end result is really horrible.

Maybe I should've put this as an actual post. Probably not. I just found it amusing/crazy. I've got a kid and it's no walk in the park by any means. But if she wants to go the Clay Aiken (really though, who didn't know he wasn't playin' for the home team), Micheal Jackson, whatever other celebs went about having children the surrogate way. This could be a hoax, I found it on digg, so I dunno. But if not... she's pretty attractive, so get at her guys.

Check it out here.

I do believe PETA is off their proverbial rocker. They want Ben & Jerry's to use actual human breast milk in their ice cream products instead of cow's milk. What kind of crack are these folks smoking and where can I get some to sell? Anything that makes you that crazy must be a good product in need of mass distribution.

Seems like Current TV is becoming something I enjoy watching. A lot easier to find thought provoking and insightful things there than on Youtube, where you have to wade through booty, boobs, and other hotness that I don't mind at all. Here's a very well put together video about the bleaching problem going on in Jamaica and other parts of the world right now. Wish people of color would accept the natural beauty that was already given to them.

Ex-Clinton Supporters a bit… 23Sep08 | 0

first_lady_hilary_clinton_wincing_in_199_1.jpg So every morning I read the news or listen to the radio, there’s always something about McCain (usually Palin though, can’t escape her) v. Obama. Though sometimes there’s a little article stating who voters are leaning towards. These polls are usually pretty insignificant and actually tell anything — except the one’s that show which way ex-Clinton backers are leaning.

Basically they, like Clinton herself, are an extremely bitter bunch.

On the other hand, Clinton supporters think more highly of Republican candidate John McCain than other Democrats do. Forty-two percent of Clinton backers view McCain favorably, including 71 percent of them who still don’t support Obama. That compares with 33 percent of all Democrats who see McCain positively.

Seriously folks, get over it. She lost, she had every chance in the world to win and she blew it. Why must you continually dwell on a loss? It’s almost as bad as her not dropping out until damn near last week (quite the exaggeration I know, but still). Obama won and Clinton didn’t, but because she didn’t that means you have to vote for a Senile old man and some deranged mother of a little league baseball team?

So there could've been a Halo MMO. I hate Halo and personally thinks this would be a craptacular idea. But it would generate tons of cash, because for some odd reason lots of people who aren't me love Halo and the Halo universe. Sorry to you weirdo's.

Snazzy Feed Reader 22Sep08 | 0

I, like many other people am a pretty visually oriented person. I like to look at pretty pictures and enjoy a spectacular view. I mean seriously, who isn’t awed by a great looking picture or a city skyline on a crystal clear night? Picture 1.png

Most of the time newsreaders (RSS readers to be exact) are clunky and boxed into a window, and let’s be honest, most people are looking at the content rather than the UI of whatever application/web application they’re using. I normally use NetNewswire. It’s the staple of putting all your feeds in a nice and friendly way. You can easily view hundreds of RSS feeds and their articles all

I always wanted something lightweight but at the same time visually pleasing. I’ve tried Newsfire which has a gorgeous UI, but I still find myself going back to NetNewswire. I’ve used Vienna and I just didn’t really get used to it for long enough to keep it as my newsreader.

So today I found out about an app called Headline and it’s pretty much everything I’ve wanted in a newsreader. Small, compact and visually pleasing. Since it’s a very new app it’s obviously got some bugs and usage quirks that will hopefully be ironed out in the very near future. It also lacks quite a few features that I use NetNewswire for, namely flagging and clipping of articles for future viewing, ability to easily insert selected text into a blogging software (ecto to be exact), and syncing with a web based service (Newsgator, Bloglines, etc). If these things get resolved soon, this may be my new newsreader.
